The future of digital cameras?

The future of digital cameras?

Today, I came across a video that made me laugh and very interested in the new range of samsung digital cameras. The viral was promoting the Samsung ST550 dual display camera. The camera has a 12.2 megapixel sensor and a 4.6x optical zoom. “Nothing different there”, I hear you say. However, this camera could revolutionize the digital camera industry.

The camera has 2 LCD screens…yes TWO! One is on the front of the camera and one is on the back. The reason for this is so that you can see how you will fit into the frame, if you are taking the pictures yourself. As the use of social networks increases, posting the most recent picture of yourself to twitter or facebook is almost ritualistic to some. Flexing your “guns” or posing in the mirror with your camera in hand are the types of photos you will see all over facebook and myspace.

However this camera isn’t just for teens posing in their bedrooms. This is a very serious camera and it means business! The ST550 also records videos in HD! Worrying whether you’re in the centre of the screen while video blogging on the move seems like a thing of the past. The touch screen is a joy to use, sending a small vibration through your finger when you’ve successfully performed an action.

Photographyblog.com commented “It offers the best interactive experience of any digital camera that we’ve reviewed, thanks to a winning combination of high-resolution, intuitive menu layout, and immediate feedback from the haptic sensor technology.”

The face detection technology and image stabilization add to the list of features and really help the definition and edge sharpness of your photos.

With 3D and wireless photo uploading promising to change the camera market in 2010, i can easily see dual LCD screens becoming another essential feature to digital cameras worldwide.

This is one camera, you’re going to have to see!
