Here at Media Lightbox, we love to give you the lowdown on existing and upcoming tech, gadgetry and all things media related. When I saw that a remake of the 1984 classic “The Karate Kid” was in post-production I had to blog about it. I can’t help but feel excited and at the same time, slightly anxious about the upcoming release of the movie.
The original Karate Kid is one of those movies we all remember inspiring us as if it were yesterday. It’s one of the most well known family films across the globe and won several awards including the “Best Family Motion Picture — Drama” at the Young Artist Awards. When I first heard about the remake I felt nervous as the remake of a classic is never a good idea! The remake will star Jaden Smith (son of Will Smith) as twelve year old “Dre Parker” and Jackie Chan as his Kung-Fu mentor, “Mr Han”. The plot will bear similarities to the original but will also shake things up a bit with big differences too. Let’s just hope they get it right! Judging by the trailer, this is a film team Media Lightbox will be going to see this Summer!
The Karate Kid is due for release 11th June 2010 in the States and 16th July in the UK.
