A problem I have been having recently is with my iMac screen. Being a designer, the brightness is always set to the highest value so that I can clearly see every detail of a design. Working on a computer nine to ten hours a day really can hurt and damage your eyes, as well as your general health. Doing the same task for hours on end can lead to Repetitive Strain Injury.
I went onto the internet to see what software could help the burning sensation I’d get in my eyes from looking at a screen all day! I was fortunate to come across F.lux, a free program that manages the lighting on your computer. F.lux makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day – warm at night and like sunlight during the day.
I actually installed f.lux late one night on my home desktop. It immediately kicked in, adjusting my monitor’s display to suit the lighting in my room. F.lux knows what timezone you’re in, based on your latitude and longitude. During the day, my computer screen displays bright, vivid colours. At night, the brightness is reduced and the colours are a lot warmer and less of a strain on my eyes.
I’d definitely recommend that you download f.lux as it is free and will help you sleep better at night!
