Media Lightbox Quick Tip

Selecting Files

Once logged in, you can select multiple files by clicking and dragging your mouse over them or by holding the ctrl key and clicking on each file. Mac users can hold the cmd key and click to select several files.

File Approval System

Every Media Lightbox account includes the ‘File approval’ feature. The approval system is ideal for requesting approval on a design or prototype from your boss, colleagues or a client.

Need more users, storage or bandwidth? Upgrading your Media Lightbox account is easy. Once logged in, simply visit the upgrade section to change your plan and customize your account to suit your company.

Folder Access Control

Media Lightbox enables you to control folder permissions for single users and custom groups. Site managers could, for example, give the accounts department access to important spreadsheets, whilst the design team have access to design and marketing folders.

Lightboxes are a great way of gathering files that are stored in different folders around your system. By adding them to a lightbox, you have a copy of them in one handy location, ready to send to others.

FXPHD ( was a website that only came to my attention around this time last year. In short FXPHD is an online VFX, Production and Post-Production training program led by professionals in the industry.

They offer both application and craft-based courses, online forums for feedback and VPN software. The curriculum includes courses in applications such as Nuke, Flame, Maya, Houdini, After Effects, Final Cut, Colour, and more.

As I’ve said before I am a big fan of video tutorials and yes FXPHD does send their lessons in a video tutorial format to you each week but their course is more than just video tutorials. Their tagline says ‘Take your VFX knowledge to the next level’ and that’s exactly what I’ve been wanting to do this past while. What makes this course different from just your standard video tutorials is not only do you watch these videos you can also take part in the forums and ask questions to the instructors etc.

This year I got a tweet about this FXPHD January term and after looking into it I decided to take the plunge and sign up! The choice of courses they offer (as can be seen here) are very exciting. I’ve signed up to:

  • AFX211 After Effects Project – The Open
  • AFX213 After Effects Broadcast Design with Red Giant
  • MOG202 Design Thinking for Motion Graphics

Now I originally signed up to FXPHD mainly for the AFX213 After Effects Broadcast Design with Red Giant course (and am so glad I did!) but I must say I’ve really enjoyed the other two courses, as am learning stuff most video tutorials and courses etc don’t cover… the behind the scenes stuff i.e. designing ideas on paper, taking one of these ideas and building upon it and other tips of the trade stuff etc.

We are now only into week 4 and I must say I’ve learnt a ton already, but I’ll do another post at the end of the term and give you my overall opinion… but if the first 3 weeks are anything to go by it will be a glowing review!

Even tho this term has started there is still time to sign up just head on over to and sign up and get going today!
