FAQ
What is Digital Asset Management?

Digital asset management is the cataloguing, storage, annotating and retrieval of ‘digital assets’, such as digital photographs, animations, video and sound files. Digital asset management systems are computer software and/or hardware systems designed to help in this task.

What sort of equipment do we need to install Media Lightbox?

You don’t need to install it locally on your server. Media Lightbox is provided as an online service and hosted on our servers. The service can be used via a normal PC or Mac, with a standard internet browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome.

What file types does Media Lightbox support?

The product supports a wide range of file types, including all major image file types, Photoshop, PDF, Videos, Sound, Powerpoint, and Microsoft Word.

Can I restrict access for different users of the system?

Yes. Media Lightbox allows you to create standard users, power users, and admin users, and manage which users see which folders, the number of functions they can use etc.

Is our data backed up properly?

Our hardware is fully redundant so that even if one disk fails no data will be lost and the system will not go down.
In addition, all data is backed up to a separate storage area three times daily and can be recovered in the event of total system failure. System uptime is greater than 99.5%.

If I have a free account that has expired, will my data be deleted immediately?

No. Free accounts have no time limit, but are limited by storage space, data transfer and user numbers. In cases where an account is to be closed, we will ensure that you have adequate warning beforehand, and data will be archived for three months after the account has been closed.

If I have a free 1 month trial or a paid account that has expired, will my data be deleted immediately?

No. If you have come to the end of your free month trial period you will be automatically charged on a monthly basis unless you cancel your account. If you decide to cancel your account at any time you will receive notification that your data must be removed from our servers before the end of the free month trial period or the end of the current month which you have paid for. All data is archived so you can reactivate your account at any point up to 3 months after the account has been closed.
