Media Lightbox Quick Tip

Selecting Files

Once logged in, you can select multiple files by clicking and dragging your mouse over them or by holding the ctrl key and clicking on each file. Mac users can hold the cmd key and click to select several files.

File Approval System

Every Media Lightbox account includes the ‘File approval’ feature. The approval system is ideal for requesting approval on a design or prototype from your boss, colleagues or a client.


Need more users, storage or bandwidth? Upgrading your Media Lightbox account is easy. Once logged in, simply visit the upgrade section to change your plan and customize your account to suit your company.

Folder Access Control

Media Lightbox enables you to control folder permissions for single users and custom groups. Site managers could, for example, give the accounts department access to important spreadsheets, whilst the design team have access to design and marketing folders.


Lightboxes are a great way of gathering files that are stored in different folders around your system. By adding them to a lightbox, you have a copy of them in one handy location, ready to send to others.

Don't have a Media Lightbox account?


End user of the system (e.g.: general staff, newspaper editor, etc...)

·         Can ONLY access some navigation options, namely Home, My Dashboard, Folders, Lightbox, Administration (Limited access) and Help

·         Can ONLY access the ‘My Account’ tab within the Admin Section


·         Will ONLY see the folders and files they have been given access to.

·         Can ONLY see Lightboxes they have created or have received from another user

·         Can NOT see any hover action icons at folder level

·         Can ONLY see the add to Lightbox/email/download hover action icons at thumbnail preview level, file details screen, search results screen and Lightbox screen (i.e.: Edit & delete icons will not be displayed)


·         Can ONLY create new Standard Users (via the send Lightbox or email file options as they don’t have access to the User Management tab within the Admin section)

·         Can NOT delete users

·         Can NOT decide on user access levels (which folders users have access to, as they don’t have access to the User Management tab within the Admin section)

·         Can NOT upload files (Upload navigation button will not be displayed and ‘Upload Files’ button within folders view will not be displayed)

·         Can download files


·         Can NOT create new folders (‘Create new folder’ button will not be displayed)

·         Can NOT rename a file, folder or Lightbox

·         Can NOT move a file

·         Can NOT delete files or folders

·         Can delete Lightboxes

·         Can NOT view the trash can (trash can graphic is not displayed)
